Final Report
Over the past three months, the Scrutiny Board have heard the views from over a hundred stakeholders on how Climate change is being addressed by Yorkshire Forward and the Regional Economic Strategy. From a public discussion with Yorkshire Forward, one-to-one interviews with stakeholders, a focus group with key stakeholders and over 50 written submissions from people in the region, strong messages have been received highlighting:
- How are we going to achieve the target of reducing carbon equivalent greenhouse gas emissions by 20-25% between 1990 and 2016?
- Who needs to take the lead on Climate Change in the region?
- Are we funding the right initiatives to make Yorkshire and Humber competitive in a low-carbon economy?
The final report including 10 recommendations to develop Yorkshire Forward's activities will be approved at the 26 June Assembly AGM. Following this, the report will be published and sent to key shareholders in the region. As well as recommendations for Yorkshire Forward, the report also contains key messages for the Regional Climate Change Executive Group and National Government.
