Meeting the Climate Change Challenge Scrutiny Review - consultation closed
Meeting the Climate Change Challenge – February to May 2008
Please note: this consultation has now closed.
Climate Change is the current topic for the Scrutiny Board and the region. This review is looking to see if the region is addressing the changing climate, the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the role of Yorkshire Forward in this.
The Scrutiny Board are asking the region:
- Whose responsibility is it to tackle Climate Change in the region?
- Are we making the right interventions at a regional level and are they having an impact?
- What else could/should we be doing?
- What do you think are the challenges and opportunities that climate change presents to the region’s economy?
Did you know?
- Yorkshire and Humber has the fastest growing economy in England.
- Yorkshire and Humber is the second highest producer of industrial emissions in England.
- Yorkshire and Humber produces almost 150 mega watts of power from renewable sources.
- 54% of CO2 emissions come from Housing and Transport in the region.
- Only 26.9% of homes in the region recycle.
- Emissions don’t just happen in the region – we increase them by importing goods in particular from the EU.
